THE ARTIST
RupertG is an accomplished and inspiring violinist and composer, performing programs of exciting original works on violin which set a new course for classical music.
As a contemporary soloist & classical musician in the twenty-first century, he has pioneered a breakthrough approach to improvisation-based composition in contemporary classical music, and presents improvisation-based composition as a mature, important and powerful component of contemporary classical music repertoire for the professional concert platform.
Combining a European classical music heritage with the essence of world music influences in state-of-the-art performances, he utilises contemporary string playing techniques on both acoustic and electronic instruments, performing new musical works which are cutting-edge and yet eloquent and imaginative.
He has many years experience teaching university courses, professional-development programs and masterclasses in making new contemporary classical music through improvisation using a unique, integrated and systematic approach which is being acclaimed among professional performers and university faculties.
Biography RupertG (aka Rupert Guenther) studied violin with Donald Scotts and Brian Finlayson at the Victorian College of The Arts in Melbourne and later with the renowned professor Helfried Fister in
Klagenfurt, Austria.
He had three years of studies and professional playing in Vienna with key positions in leading orchestras and operas including the Vienna Chamber Opera, Austrian Radio & TV productions and has toured
Europe including positions as concertmaster.
Between 1998 and 2002 he finished 20 years of research in developing a unique system of improvised contemporary classical music composition and began to focus on performing his own compositions as a contemporary solo artist.
He now performs exclusively as an international concert artist premiering programs of original contemporary classical and chamber music in festivals, concert venues, cathedrals and contemporary art spaces in Europe, the UK, USA and Australia.
